This is without a doubt one of the biggest surprises I have ever put on ebay....I terms of Disney magic, condition, RARITY, and Color, this Disney CLASSIC is in truly spellbinding!!!!! and in Near Mint condition!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Most dealers would call this print MINT. DIRECTED by the GREAT Bernard McEveety, director of 32 of the best COMBAT EPISODES, The Virginian, Rockford Files, The Waltons etc etc ect!!!!! EXCELLENT colors The pictures speak for themselves….I HAVE SEEN THIS TITLE MANY MANY TIMES, AND HAVE RUN ACROSS IT DURING FILM TRADES AND COLLECTIONS  … AND THEY ARE ALWAYS RED OR LIBRARY PRINT FULL OF LINES!!!!!! NOT THIS ONE!!!  I thought it was LPP quality, but The stock does not say LPP.  Even the scene transitions, and the night time scenes are not the usual SP with heavy reddish hues with the blacks completely gone…THIS PRINT HAS VERY PRONOUNCED COLOR!!!! Unusual for the many printings that I have seen of this Disney Title.  Even the beginning titles are very entertaining, Animated, Folk art with each page constantly replaced by another title card, with each title!!!! Napoleon and Samantha is about two young small-town children, and the unique adventure they experience. While that may sound like a familiar Disney premise, the film works quite well and easily distinguishes itself from the studio's other fare. When the film opens, best friends Napoleon  and Samantha (Jodie Foster in her feature film debut) lead simple lives. When not in school, they're playing about and going to a little store owned by Mr. Gutteridge (Henry Jones), where they exchange empty bottles for jellybeans to feed to a horse named Charlie. There's magic in the memories as great Disney moments are captured right here for you and your family to enjoy. Two young children (Johnny Whitaker and Jodie Foster) suddenly find themselves in charge of a gentle, aging circus lion. However, when they are threatened with being split up by DCF authorities, the trio embarks on a perilous journey across the wilds of the American Northwest. During their adventure-filled odyssey, they seek help in their plight from a sympathetic, free-spirited mountain man (ROMANCING THE STONE'S Michael Douglas). Ferocious forest predators, a dangerous drifter, and the pursuing police make for a head-over-heels race to breathtaking conclusions in this captivating saga.   Napoleon and Samantha pleasantly changes gears a few times. It starts out as an intimate small town coming-of-age tale, develops into a grand expedition in the wild, and then finishes with a quick-paced, action-packed climax. However, this refreshingly only leaves surprises ahead for the viewer. Through it all, the film remains extremely entertaining and interesting in the true tradition of most DISNEY features!!!!. The hybrid of subjects and tones works incredibly well, as the story stays fresh. The young leads are compelling, and Michael Douglas' top-billed college student is a good role and makes for a highlighting performance. There's excitement and sweetness and all of the elements successfully come together for a quality Disney film. In fact this entire film is a real GEM!!!!  There are many heart warming scenes, and towards the end there is a brilliant chase seen that was filmed in an extraordinary way!!!! Release Date 1972 Running time Approximately 91 minutes  2 X  1600 foot reels! UNCUT THEATRICAL PRINT!!!!!!!  There is no vinegar smell, since all my prints were kept in optimum conditions. The FILM STOCK IS EASTMAN. The pictures provided here are directly taken from the print itself, and are very accurate to the color of the print.  The pictures were taken by a low priced digital camera, so that the pictures here unfortunately appear a little unfocused compared to the actual sharpness and contrast of the print for sale. The wear is minimal, mostly in the beginning and end of the reels.   I noticed splices in the first couple of minutes, but I don’t  believe that there were any loss of words!!!…it rapidly clears up for the rest of the two reels, that has a magnificently clean image condition. Any further description questions should be specifically asked before bidding. It played smoothly with RAZOR sharp focus.  The show is complete to the fade out, after all the credits. The SOUND IS BOOMING!!!!! This is an outstanding print, one for the ages, and if you never saw it, on the big screen, believe me you will never see another of this title as good as this one.  There is NO RESERVE!!!!!
