Description
Three 16mm feature westerns and projector from the Duke's personal collection. Titles are:Hondo 1953 IB Tech printThe Spoilers 1942 b/wThree Faces West 1940 b/w. I picked these films up in Tucson from a man who owned the Wild Horse Ranch where Wayne and other movie stars would stay during the 30's through the 70's. The owner (when he was just working for the ranch and not yet the owner ) would show these films for John Wayne and his guests. Wayne brought these films and the projector from his own collection. There is very little information on the ranch in it's early days. The Wild Horse Ranch still has a John Wayne SuiteThese 3 films come with the Duke's own Kodak Pageant MK5 projector. The projector has been lubed and runs like a top. Picture is nice and steady. The optical sound is great. I could not get magnetic film to play sound. There is a hum. I'm sure it's an easy fix for the right person. The films themselves are in very good shape considering they were stored improperly. I could not detect any vinegar smell. They all have splices and light lines that come and go as would be expected from original prints. There are no emulsion scratches, only base - so the prints could be cleaned. The Spoilers had some sprocket damage in a certain area of reel 2. I removed those sections and saved them. The sprockets could be repaired. I wanted to make sure these prints were runnable. All the prints ran fine on my Bell & Howell 1568 which is the last of the projectors B&H made. It's very easy on film. I wouldn't run these films on the Kodak Pageant. The pageant has very tight bends and could damage older brittle film. Three Faces West actually has little or no wear but it is missing the first reel - about 15 minutes , which is a shame. Hondo, well it's beautiful. Color and sound is perfect. There is no film stock markings on Hondo. Just a black frame. If you need more photos or information please don't hesitate to ask. There is no letter of authenticity but the circumstances are certain. If you would like a letter that may be possible from the previous owner. I realize the price is high so feel free to make an offer. Thanks! Shipping: via USPS PriorityClick here for additional photoClick here for film stock photos
