Invite people to telephone an answering machine and apologise to their fellow man for whatever crimes they had committed. The calls would then become part of a large walk-in sculpture. She had to admit that some of the calls confessing to incest, rape and murder were deeply disturbing - not at all like the petty larceny and adultery confessions she had expected. Interviewed by a New York newspaper, she admits to recieving a call from the "Penis Biter" a killer of homosexuals, who has actually left his name on the tape. It's front page news. Initially rejecting demands from local detective Rad Hungate (Peter Weller) to hand over the tape, the media exposure and police pressure set in motion a chain of events that become increasingly terrifying. Lily McGuire is playing with dynamite. There's a psychopath on the loose and his last message is quite specific: "You're next Lily McGuire". Apology - a thriller that once sen can never be forgotten.
