Description
Well here it is! The Super rare MCA DiscoVision laserdisc: The Bionic Woman! This comes from my vault of super rare and highly collectible items obtained through many years of "hunting"! (This is getting to be a cliche, but this IS NOT a DVD!) This Laserdisc is from the year 1980, and as can be seen from the photos it is in great shape with only one real stand out crease (located in the bottom left half of the laserdisc jacket). I've had this laserdisc covered in plastic for a very long time. What you need to know about these gems is that there are many inconsistencies on the discs themselves. (ref. not sony, casio, nelsonic, nor panasonic - just MCA discovision!) Some slight scratching and so forth, so what you get is a pretty standard play back sequence (with light graniness) with also some glitches here and there (please see the bottom website information concerning this). What this is though, is a super highly collectible piece of art, that is not made anymore and a great conversation piece! There are a total of 2 laserdiscs (4 playing sides) and this showing marks the episode in which Jamie is introduced to the world. We all know the story, which is Jamie is injured in a skydiving accident, in which her right ear, right arm, and both legs are destroyed. Steve, her fiance who is a government project of bionics, makes a huge appeal to Oscar Goldman and the government to have Jamie "put back together again". What makes this a standout is two totally super actors, Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner, and a story which in my opinion still gives the best of today, a run for their money! Fantastic indeed! ©1976 Universal City Studios, Inc. All rights reserved. Catalog Number 20-001 Format Standard Play CAV Running Time 96 minutes Release History Pressing Notes This two part episode from the television series The Six Million Dollar Man, is a rare find. The disc labels on The Bionic Woman are the source of some controversy as the spelling of "Jaime" alternates with "Jamie" throughout the program. Regardless, "Welcome Home, Jaime" which is the subtitle of this program, was the actually title of the pilot episode title from "The Bionic Woman" television series. In that episode, Jamie suddenly recovers her memory which was lost as a result of her death ("The Bionic Woman" - the program on this disc) and resurrection ("The Return of the Bionic Woman"). In addition to the naming issue, the cast given on the film's credit roll and that presented on the disc jacket seem to differ. The credit roll appears to be the correct cast. Almost all copies have a blank spot from frames 9,941 to 9,950 on side 2. However, at least one copy has been identified as including all the frames which have been found missing on all others. Since both good and bad copies have the same stamper and mastering information on them, we must conclude the master was damaged early in the production run of the title, resulting in the error on most copies. Some players will report chapter stops on side 3. This is a mistake in the coding, and there are no chapter stops. The Bionic Woman was listed for the last time in the October 1980 catalog. Release History The Bionic Woman has never been re-issued on LaserDisc.
